Short daily meditations on
EPHESIANS 2

# 1 - Read and consider:

Ephesians 2:1-3
"1 And you were dead
in your trespasses and sins,
2 in which you formerly walked
according to the course of this world,
according to the prince of the power
of the air,
of the spirit that is now working
in the sons of disobedience.
3 Among them we too all formerly
lived in the lusts of our flesh,
indulging the desires
of the flesh and of the mind,
and were by nature
children of wrath, even as the rest."

Ephesians 2:1-3
* What causes spiritual death?
1) Former trespasses and sins,
typical of worldly behavior,
led by the prince of
the power of the air
2) This prince is the spirit
working in those disobedient to God
* And that applies to everyone
3) We all lived in fleshly lusts
4) We all have & have indulged in
desires of flesh and mind

* Everyone by nature are children of wrath
[NOTE: this explains sinful nature from birth]

4 But God, being rich in mercy,
because of His great love
with which He loved us,
5 even when we were dead
in our transgressions,
made us alive together
with Christ (by grace
you have been saved),
6 and raised us up with Him,
and seated us with Him
in the heavenly places
in Christ Jesus,
7 so that in the ages to come
He might show the
surpassing riches of His grace
in kindness toward us
in Christ Jesus.

Notes from Ephesians 2:4-7

Consider God:
* He is rich in mercy
* He is rich in love
Consider man:
* We were dead in our transgressions
Then God:
* Who resurrected Christ
* made us alive with Christ
(By God's grace you are saved)
And God:
* raised us up with Christ and
* seated us with Him in the heavens
* placed us in Christ Jesus
Why is this God's plan?
* In ages to come people will want to
understand the richness of God's grace
* God will show His kindness to
us in Christ Jesus
