FAITH CONFESSION
Jeremiah 1:4-12 Then the word of the LORD came to me saying: 5 “ Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” 6 Then said I: “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, I cannot speak for I am a youth.” 7 But he LORD said to me: “Do not say, ‘I am a youth, ‘For you shall go to all to whom I send you, And whatever I command you, you shall speak. 8 Do not be afraid of their faces, For I am with you to deliver you, ”says the Lord. 9 Then the LORD put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me: “Behold I have put my words in your mouth. 10 See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, To root out and to pull down, To destroy and to throw down, To build and to plant.” 11 Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” And I said, “I see a branch of an almond tree.” 12 Then the LORD said to me, “You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word.” NKJV
In this first chapter we get to hear the calling of Jeremiah into ministry. He was a young man and from what God says to him, it is clear that before he could be effective in his life and calling God had to establish some things in and through him. There were some misconceptions, and some bad habits and God had to set him free from some thinking that was holding
him back from freedom and liberty. I believe that what God spoke here to Jeremiah, is for us also, because these truths that God brought to his life caused him to live in the flow, in the prosperity, in his destiny purpose for his life. God had to bring Wisdom and Knowledge to him so that his eyes would be open and the deception of the enemy would have no root in him.
Without knowledge we perish. Without wisdom and knowledge we continue to do stupid things and our lives are destroyed by stupidity.
Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. NKJV
It isn’t the devil that gets you…it is your willingness to be trained by his lies and this is building your life off of lies. Remember the devil is a liar…and he wants to market his lies to you. A lie unchallenged becomes the truth you live by. God gives us knowledge so that we can walk in liberation and discover and walk in our calling and potential.
Proverbs 3:13-18 Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding; 14 For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, And her gains than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies, and
all the things you may desire cannot compare with her. 16 Length of days is in her right hand, In her left hand riches and honor. 17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, And all her paths are peace. 18 She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, And happy are all who retain her. NKJV
Listen to the depth of this promise. Those that walk in this knowledge and wisdom find happiness, fulfillment in life, calling and purpose.
The first truth that God wanted Jeremiah to know was… Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, before you were born I sanctified you, I ordained you a prophet to the nations.
Think about this truth… before you were in your mother’s womb.. God knew you, he already had you in mind, he provided grace (sanctified) you and also put forth a purpose and calling for your life. Wow!! Think about this truth. God loves me, I am no accident, before I could mess up my life, he already made up his mind about me! One of the biggest lies is that our lives don’t matter, that we are just a accident, or insignificant, but the reality is, we are called and chosen by God for this time and season and our lives were meant to count!
1 Peter 2:9-10 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. NKJV
We are a chosen generation, he called us out of darkness (lack of knowledge) of this truth.. into this truth that has called us significant, purpose and with expectation of His hand in our lives. Jeremiah had to know this truth, that God had him in mind even before mom and dad made him. Before Jeremiah was born, God already saw him ministering to nations. No wonder the enemy is so ready to give you his lies.. so that you live ignorant of your true identity!
Jeremiah 1:6 Then said I: “Ah Lord GOD! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth
His first response to God’s calling, purpose and destiny for his life…I cannot..
I am too young. This is the first response of a person living under the lies of the enemy…I cannot! I’m too poor, I’m too old, I don’t have the right training, I don’t have the right connections, I’m not smart enough, good enough, I’m too weak, I’ve made to many mistakes…and the list goes on. Jeremiah had lived arguing with freedom and agreeing with bondage. Think about this, God had told him something good. Instead of receiving good news, he argues with it. Wow, that’s true stupidity ..a fool…God is telling him he is going to be a mighty man who does great things for God in the world, and instead of saying, “Great God, lets do it….he instead argues with his own blessing.! Why do we do that? Why do we agree with lies and reject the truth? Yet, we hate where we are, but won’t believe the good news from God. The first thing God had to do with Jeremiah, was to change what was coming out of his mouth. Look what God says to Jeremiah.
Jeremiah 1:7 But the LORD said to me: Do not say, ‘I am a youth,” For you shall go to all to whom I send you, And whatever I command you, you shall speak.
Do you see it? God said, Say not, don’t say. God was saying. Quit disagreeing with me, when I say something it has creative power with it!
Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. NKJV
Our mouth is killing us, we’ve got to start saying the right things. For the more death you speak to yourself, the longer you live in your bondages. If you keep contradicting what God says, you’re pulling the plug on everything he wants to do for you.
James 3:3-5 Indeed, we put bits in horses’ mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. 4 Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires.5 Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things.
Do you see it, your lives are turned by what we allow to take over our mouth. Do say it… Don’t let that negativity power take over your life.
Numbers 13:30-33 Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are able to overcome it.” 31 But the men who had gone up with him said, We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.” 32 And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land that they had spied out, saying, “ The land, through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature. 33 There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.” NKJV
Realize an entire generation lost their purpose when their mouth stopped confessing God’s promise for them.. Instead of them going forward they all turned back in the day of promise.. They pulled the plug on their own blessing with what they let their mouth speak!
Jeremiah 1:7-12 And whatever I command you, you shall speak. 8 Do not be afraid of their faces, For I am with you to deliver you,” says the LORD. 9 Then the LORD put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the LORD said to me: “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth. 10 see, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, To root out and to pull down, To destroy and to throw down, To build and to plant.” Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” And I said, “I see a branch of an almond tree.” 12 Then the LORD said to me, “You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word.” NKJV
Notice that Jeremiah was going to become an “I can do all things” kind of warrior.
Philippians 4:21 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
God was ready to perform His word… he was ready and when he began to speak God’s word and refuse to agree with lies and instead agree with truth.. His life was going to rise up as a Mighty Vessel of Honor for God to fill and use for his purpose.
1 Timothy 6:12-13 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. NKJV
Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. NKJV
