* The world measures wealth
Some people are poor with little money
Some people are rich with much money
* The Lord oversees wealth

He brings low, He also exalts.
1 Sam 2:7

* The world measures wealth
The world may equate one's value with one's wealth.
The world makes lists of the richest people, like
      Forbes and The Richest 250
The world identifies the poorest man, who is
      $6.3 billion in debt. The Atlantic
The world knows the 50 poorest countries
The world keeps track: WorldBank organization
* But the Lord sees wealth:
"Listen, my beloved brethren:
did not God choose
the poor of this world
to be rich in faith and
heirs of the kingdom
which He promised to those
who love Him?" James 2:5
* The world measures wealth
"Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's..."
(Matt 22:21)
* The Lord measures wealth
"... and (render unto) God what is God's."
(Matt 22:21)
* The world measures wealth
(People often think their own
power creates wealth)
see Deut 8:17 (Wealth & God's covenant)
* The Lord measures wealth
(Actually, God gives people
power to make wealth)
see Deut 8:18
* The world trusts wealth
6 Those who trust in their wealth,
and boast in the multitude of their riches—
7 none of them can by any means redeem his brother,
nor give God a ransom for him.
8 For the redemption of their life is costly,
no payment is ever enough,
9 That he should live on forever,
that he should not see corruption.
10 For he sees that wise men die;
likewise the fool and the senseless perish,
and leave their wealth to others.
11 Their inward thought is that
their houses will endure forever,
and their dwelling places to all generations.
They name their lands after themselves.
12 But man, despite his riches, doesn’t endure.
He is like the animals that perish.
13 This is the destiny of those who are foolish,
and of those who approve their sayings.
Ps 49:6-13
* The Lord measures wealth
“20b Blessed are you who are poor,
for yours is the kingdom of God.

24 But woe to you who are rich,
for you are receiving your comfort in full.
25 Woe to you who are well-fed now,
for you shall be hungry.
Woe to you who laugh now,
for you shall mourn and weep.
26 Woe to you when all men speak well
of you, for their fathers used to
treat the false prophets in the same way."
(Luke 6:20b-26)
* The world measures wealth
The parable of the Talents (Matt 25:18,24-30)
One recipient hid the 1 talent given him, to keep it
and neither give nor gain anything with it. He
hoarded it. That was his standard of measure,
per Luke 6:38.
* The Lord measures wealth
"Give, and it will be given to you.
They will pour into your lap
a good measure — pressed down,
shaken together,
and running over.
For by your standard of measure
it will be measured to you in return.”
(Luke 6:38)
